Yoga for Men
Since many men participate in contact sports and other physically demanding activities(including work), practicing Asanas can help offset any physical irregularities that may develop from such tasks. In most activities and sports there is a tendency that some muscles are used more than their respective symmetrical counterparts. Yoga postures (asanas) help by loosening tightness in the muscles, which helps bring the body back into its natural alignment.
While Weight Training is good for muscle growth and strength, combining it with Yoga can produce even better results. Asanas will increase flexibility thru a combination of stretching and relaxing the muscles. Breath work (pranayama) improves response from the nervous system and reduces stress. Meditation will help your concentration, focus, and teaches you how to clear your mind. Also reducing the stress.
The overall practice of Yoga can also help combat age-related diseases like impotence, prostate conditions, Osteoporosis, and heart problems. That, plus reasons mentioned above, is why the practice of Yoga is highly beneficial for all men.
This is a mixed level class which introduces the sun salutations and a wide range of yoga postures. Beginners are welcome.
