Seated meditation practice that helps students explore their daily lives. It offers insights into how to live more peacefully and fully. The Latin root of the word meditation, mederi, means “to heal.” In our practice of meditation it does not mean thinking about how to fix the mind but how to be one with it. Meditation is the way to bring us back to ourselves, where we can really experience, explore, and be with ourselves. In stillness and silence of seated meditation, we glimpse and return to that deep inner nature that we have lost sight of in the busyness and distraction of our minds and lives.

Focus: Awareness, Mindfulness, Muscular Tension: Tension Creates a narrow focus and over focused mental state that limits our experience of the world. You may have to overcome the resistance before you can create a daily practice. You may also feel overwhelmed to add another activity to your busy schedule. Session #2 Focus: Stress Response: When we learn to relax our autonomic nervous system we can significantly reduce the stress on our heart, digestive system, immune system and endocrine system. Inner balance -vs- Excessive activation, and inhibition

Session #3 Focus: Flow of Emotions: Learning how to be aware and manage our emotions is the key to creating less stress and more relaxation.  Letting go of negative emotions, increase of positive emotions -vs- Persistent negative emotions

Session #4: Focus: Mental Tension: Keys to mental relaxation focus, concentration, and meditation. Focused, Centered and open minded -vs- Scattered, stuck, preoccupied mind

Session #5: Focus: Spiritual Relaxation: Spirituality is the most challenging human experience to describe. We know that it is alive and real but the location is not as easy to find. Self knowledge, purpose of life, sense of sacred -vs- Lack of purpose, alienation, isolation
